2. Make sure your wedding is legal: There could be strict guidelines related to both the country you are getting married in and the one you are from. So do some research on what you may need.
3. Consider the practicalities of your venue: Are your close family and friends able to make your wedding if it's abroad? Some may not be able to afford it. If family can't afford the trip consider if you would be able to contribute instead.
4. Pick your destination with great care. Decide why you want to get married at a specific place. Perhaps, if you live in a place like England, you may want to escape to a tropical island which has guaranteed sunshine all year around. But be careful, not all tropical destinations have good weather all year round. Some have monsoon season's which could mean your wedding could turn into a washout.
5.Visit the venue: By knowing what it looks like, it can help you establish the theme.
6. Meet the owners or organisers of the venue and talk your wedding plans through with them. This will help you decide whether you would be satisfied with their service. The venue may look absolutely stunning but the managers and service providers could be rude or unhelpful. “Make sure you can work easily with the venue if you are dealing directly with them, and that they speak and understand English. Do not assume that their standards are the same as yours,” says Einhorn.
7. Suppliers can't arrange your wedding the way you want, consider hiring décor specialists that are expert in organising weddings abroad. “Work only with an established planner with experience overseas. Visit the planner – view portfolios of previous weddings they have organised, have a few difficult or technical questions up your sleeve to ask them,” advises Einhorn.
Tips for getting married abroad

1. Budget: make sure you can afford to have your wedding abroad. To make it more affordable, consider getting married in a destination where the currency is weaker than your own. Depending on where you live, your money could go further in developing economies such as Brazil and South Africa for example. “Work out your budget and what it includes before you start. Decide how many people you want to invite and how large and decadent an affair you would like,” advises Kim Einhorn, MD and co-founder of Theme Traders, the production, party and prop hire company.
