Tips on choosing the perfect wedding dress

by Angelique Ruzicka

1. Buy some wedding magazines or search online to get an idea of the current styles of wedding dress and gain information about the designers and stores.

2. Cut out anything that you like the look of and keep the clippings in a safe place or create a scrap book of them.

3. Beneath each picture write down comments saying what you like and dislike about each dress.

4. Call stores in your area and ask to make an appointment. Most stores are appointment only. Take your scrapbook with you to the store to show the consultant the type of styles you are after.

5. Remember to wear your best underwear when you are trying on dresses. Store consultants have seen it all, but it's best to feel comfortable and not embarrassed by wearing granny panties.

6. Try not to go alone to the fitting as it's always helpful having a second opinion. Take your bridesmaids, your mom, or a good friend with you.

7. Try on different styles, even if you know you don't like them. It's best to rule out styles that don't suit you, and who knows you may even be surprised at what may actually like.

8. Don't feel dispondent if you don't find the right dress on the first day. It may take some time to find the perfect dress.
